What to Order at ROKA Istanbul: 4 Table Plans by Budget

Compare four ordering plans at ROKA Galataport, from a focused weekday lunch to a celebration built around signature dishes.

It is perfectly normal to spend the first few minutes at ROKA wondering where to begin. Sushi, robata, cold plates and signatures can make the table grow quickly. The trick is not to order from every section, but to decide what kind of meal you want: a quick lunch, a balanced table for two or a full celebration. Each needs a different rhythm—and a very different budget.

Understand ROKA's format first

ROKA centres on modern Japanese robatayaki. Plates from the open robata grill are designed to sit beside sushi and sashimi in a sharing sequence. A conventional order in which everyone chooses one main course may therefore misrepresent both the experience and the budget.

The Galataport branch also combines its terrace and sunset setting with music on selected evenings. Decide whether you want a focused lunch, a calmer dinner or a livelier night, then use one of the four routes below.

4 budget strategies

All four plans can flex with the table's appetite and the mood of the evening.

  • 1 — Focused lunch: Check the published weekday Donburi Express window; stay within that format and skip cocktails and extras.

  • 2 — Selective table: For two, stop at three categories—one cold starter, one sushi choice and one hot plate from the robata.

  • 3 — Balanced sharing: Add a cold starter, sushi, a vegetable and one protein from the robata; share dessert.

  • 4 — Celebration: Begin with yellowtail sashimi or sushi, then centre the table on one signature such as black cod or lamb cutlets; budget drinks first.

  • Ask the service team about portion size before completing any route.

  • Avoid paying twice for the same protein across sushi and robata.

  • If the view matters, make it a clear note on the booking.

  • Declare allergies and preferences around raw food before ordering.

Timing changes the bill

Donburi Express is the neatest option for a shorter lunch, served from 12:30 to 16:00. Evenings have a different pulse. On Friday and Saturday the DJ starts at 19:00, and the table naturally becomes longer, livelier and more drink-led.

Choose an early weekday dinner for a calmer meal, or Friday and Saturday for sunset and music. If the view matters, add the request to your booking. Galataport can be busy at weekends, so allow more arrival time than the map suggests.

Serving sushi, hot robata plates and drinks in waves—rather than multiplying everything at once—keeps both flavour and budget legible.
What is the safest route for two first-time guests?

The selective three-category table is the clearest start: one cold plate, one sushi choice and one hot robata dish. Ask about portions, then add a vegetable or dessert if needed; that is more controlled than over-ordering at the beginning.
